Group text messaging has not been very intuitive, especially between iOS and Android. Previously, if someone sent me a group text from an iPhone, I would only see the sender. If I responded, it would be sent to everyone else that received the original text even though I had no idea who it was sent to (something that could be disastrous).

Eventually, I found that I could set up Handcent so that it would only send to one person. I couldn't participate in group texting, but at least it was safe.

I heard that Google Hangouts finally allowed compatible group text between Android and iOS, and would clearly display everyone being replied to. That appears to be working. This functionality still appears to be missing from Handcent. If so, I guess I will start using Hangouts instead of Handcent. I prefer the customization of Handcent, and the pop-up window for new messages. But other people are used to group messages, and I feel like I'm always the one who breaks away into a one-on-one conversation.

Additionally, I started using Cover Lock Screen, which seems to cause problems with the Handcent pop-up (it was behaving inconsistently). So that's another reason that I will probably be dropping Handcent after numerous years of use.

Just wondering if there is anything I'm missing in all of this. Any info is appreciated.
