I just installed handcent and so far I love it. One thing though, when I get a txt message I get a notice from both the built in messenger and from handcent. Anyone know how to turn off the build in messenger?

I did this when I first installed handcent, but lately I am getting 2 notifications even though I have the notifications disabled on the stock app, any suggestions?

If you are diggin handcent that much, you might want to just uninstall any others you might have installed.

Could be, I don't know if gde has a third party txt mess program. It may, or it may just be a notification setting in gde.

Do you have startup auditor installed? If so, that might be your issue. My entire phone, including handcent freaked out when I installed that. I removed it and all seems well now.

As long as there is a post for Handcent I was wondering if anyone else has this problem.

My buddy in work will sometime text me a small video or a slideshow of pictures in a text. When I use Handcent to read it and I click for the slideshow to play, a picture shows up real fast, then closes. I bring up the defualt message app. and no problem. It will show the slideshow of 5 or 6 pictures. Only Handcent is giveing me this problem.
    Any one else?

    YES!
Yesterday I got a notification of a new text. Looked at the phone, and I saw it... then it disappeared (since the phone was locked, this seemed normal)

I unlocked the phone and there was no text message. No notification. I looked in the messaging log and there was nothing there either.

    It all just vanished.

So I heard the new update forces ads. Can anyone verify?

you only get ads in the settings screen, so it really doesn't matter let them make money, it's a great app

Yeah, it is a great app. and I would love for them to make money... out of my pocket. Not through my inconvenience. I'll pay to go without ads on most programs. Handcent is great, but F them for slapping up ads without an alternative for the consumer.

I'm happy to have ads I rearly have to look at for a free app. How often do you go into your handcent settings? Me not often.

Never. But I'm still not touching it. I haven't updated and I will not update unless forced.

Yeah, Fail them, what did you think I meant:rolleyes::p
Seriously though. That's bad business. Especially when some of their consumer base will swap over to the competition as a result. I'm not saying that I'm willing to, because I am very satisfied with their program. But I would like to have the option to support them through means other than my own inconvenience.

The ol' Bait and Switch is wrong IMO... if there is no other alternative presented.
