I used to always plug my bb storm into my tape deck adapter (im old school) to play music or make voice calls. I'm a bit disappointed with the android options for this. it only plays through one speaker.

Any ideas on why and how to fix this? is there an adapter or app?

I route the phones audio through my car speakers, but still talk through the phone's mic.

That's weird I don't do it through the tape deck but I do have a 3.5mm input in my car and when I'm plugged in I can take calls and perfectly fine this way.

I use to have an LG Dare and the only way it would let me do this is I bought a 3.5mm microphone adapter from radio shack I believe it was $5 it's just a microphone that can attach to your tape deck or headphone line

ok, I think I might have not been pushing the audio jack into the phone all the way... gotta get it to 'click'. Everything seems to be working for the most part now, but when making a phone call through the tape deck adapter, it really seems like the right speaker is much much louder than the left speaker. Since this issue is not present with the google music app, it leads me to believe it is a software issue with the phone app... for some reason it sends unequal voltage to the left and right speakers, at least when plugged into a jack that doesn't have a mic (the tape deck adapter only take stereo input, not voice).

Maybe I'll try to get a mic adapter like what you have and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip! Cheers!

No problem I'll have to listen better next time I take a call in the car and see if it's louder on one side. I haven't noticed it but I'm pretty oblivious to things sometimes .

I don't use the mic adapter with my Nexus just for clarification I used it with my old LG Dare but I don't see why it wouldn't work with the Nexus also

GNex and a tape deck? You are one schizo dude! :) I love ya, man.

LOL! this is how i roll.

...for the record player the car is 2001 and has a tape deck + 6 disc changer, so it's still an upgrade from my '80s 4 door beast that only had a radio!

You need to put an 8 track in that thing man... :p

For the record I also use the same thing as Jim (nice to see you again from the OG Droid days), I had to use it for the TBolt because HTC built the phone to only function that way. I haven't even tried the GNex in the car with out it lol...

my kids asked "whats a tape deck"...i died a little inside at that moment

get a new head unit. $250 installed w/ builtin bluetooth. perfect for streaming.
