ANDROID SYSTEM RECOVERY <3e>
SAMSUNG SYSTEM RECOVERY UTILS
-REBOOT SYSTEM NOW

-WIPE CACHE PARTITION
why i suppose to do?
I have messed with my cricket bootanimation folder so much that it doesn't work anymore. Anyone have the original?
I think there is supposed to be four folders inside.
Welcome to AF, you can make a backup and flash back to stock and pull the bootanimation.zip using root explorer and than go into recover and restore your recovery and move the bootanimation back to /system/media.
Thanks nuttmeg. I just assumed that altering the system files did so permenately.
Good info to know. Thanks!
Well, I would do as instructed.
Alright so i recently re_booted my phone back to CM7 (playful god latest) and Gapps was missing for somereason idk why... But when I tried to unzip it from my sd card in recovery, the unzip/install goes perfect, except when it reboots the system, my phone gets stuck on the "Ascend" screen (giant tron droid not skating droid) and it stays like that for hours and hours and refuses to go any further (to skating droid screen).... It's really pissing me off cuz my phone is almost as good as bricked now
can anyone tell me how to remove the stock apps or bloatware from my cricket ascend 2 running 2.3.6 rooted ???
App Manager. Titanium Backup is generally the favorite.
I would just start from square 1.. re-download the CM7 ROM and also the gapps file, and try it again... following the steps from this thread...
what version CMW are you using... You should be using at least CWM 18.104.22.168 if not the CMW 22.214.171.124
Yes, what he said above about CWM. This also happened to me, so after flashing 126.96.36.199, I loaded PG's CM7.2 that OC'd to 748MHz and defaulted to 748MHz (09122011 build) to my SD and tried to flash it. Stuck. I then downloaded PG's 09132011 build that OC'd to 710MHz and defaults to 710MHz, did a data/factory reset, cache wipe, Dalvik wipe...then reboot to recovery...then flashed gapps, then rebooted to system. Worked just fine. Maybe that will work...or try other versions. The BobzHome one worked on my Ascend as well.
Can anyone point me to the Gapps For PlayfulMod v1.1 (Huawei Ascend rom 2.2.2) If i flash 2.3.5 Gapps with PlayfulMod 2.2.2 i go into a bootloop i can't find Gapps for this particular rom!
Try titanium backup or usecroot explorer to find them in /system/app or /cust
You don't need gapps for that rom
Ive read around and im excited to try this...i got my m860 from metro with 2.1..later when 2.2 came out from metro i switched to it....id just really like to know what to use in case anythings changed since some posts look outdated...for sure i need titanium pro and gingerbreak..after that can i just roll cm7 on it..and what build? thanks
WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS, DAYWALKER40!
The posts & information are up-to-date.
Just read all the information carefully before proceeding w/modding your phone & that should keep difficulties to a minimum.
If you do run into difficulties, don't hesitate to post, someone is usually hanging around, despite the appearance otherwise, & will get you on your way.
My suggestion for a ROM would be CM7 09132011.
ok kolio...rooted m860 2.2 w/ gingerbreak...installed and upgraded titu..backed up apps and data....now is root explorer the only program to change from r/o to r/w to remove the bloatware ...or something like that or can i use another free one...thanksin advance
Try ANT TEK FILE MANAGER in the GOOGLE PLAY STORE,along w/the other ANT TEK apps, definitely good stuff!
Ok..first off thanks again for holding my hand through this...used gingerbreak..(can i uninstall that or no?) ..the titu instructions posted are different ..im not sure if i just got a newer version, but i figured it out and backed up apps and data. to the box..i never figured out how to change the bloatware from r/o to r/w..or whatever way it was...actually ended up drag and dropping them into a red "x" that would come up...now im trying to build enough nerve to use cm7....the one im trying to get is named "CM7.2-Ascend-09132011-signed 710Mhz version." does this sound right?
Go to the ALL THINGS ROOT section of this forum & see the thread ULTIMATE ASCEND CUSTOMIZATION GUIDE.
It contains step-by-step instructions for installing CM7.
Before installing CM7,you'll want to install a version of CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY.(just flash it right over the existing stock ANDROID RECOVERY)
You can either install it(version 188.8.131.52)via the app ROM MANAGER or install the preferred version(s) 184.108.40.206 or 220.127.116.11 via FASTBOOT method.
All download links can be found @ the top of this thread & the instructions for FASTBOOT method of installing CWM 18.104.22.168(8) can be found in the stickies in the ALL THINGS ROOT section.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.or,PM:call:,& we'll get ya on your way in no time.:vroam:
Can anyone please tell me which ROM would be best for a beginner?
CM7, probably. You'll have the best support here.
