I stopped by an AT&T store today to take a close look at the HTC M8. I'm trying to make sure that the Note 4 is the phone I want. (last year I kept the N3 for 1 week b4 I returned it and got a G2). While I was there I took another look at the iPhone 6 Plus. Wow, that is a beautiful phone. I guess I have about a month to decide between the N4 & the 6 Plus. This is going to be a tough choice.

Yea I have a Nexus 5 and wanted a 6 but if the 5.9in rumor is true I'll pass. I am also looking at the 6Plus or Note 4. I don't like touchwiz and I don't really care to invest into another ecosystem (Apple) but if I have to so be it. Please don't be a big Nexus. 5.7in is about as far as I could go in a screen.

The Nexus 5 is an awesome device. I have mine on eBay right now, making room for something, just not sure what!

It's the Apple hardware that I really like, not iOS. A 6+ running Android L would be perfect. No matter how nice the N4 ends up being it will not be at the same level as the 6 & 6+

The new iPhones use the same type rubber gasket between the screen and frame as the Nokia 1520. It makes for a very tight fit.

I have not seen the 6+ myself, but heard that they didn't make use of the large screen. Instead of adding more info, they blew up the text, icons, etc.

I've had the Note 2 for almost 2 years now. TW hasn't been a problem. I couldn't see myself going to Apple and it's frustratingly closed system.

In the end I'll go with the Note 4. I think the 6+ is the best hardware I've seen thus far but iOS isn't for me. It works well and I have owned iPads and iPhones but I prefer Android and WP to iOS. I shouldn't really be in a hurry to replace my current daily driver. It's a full 6" of 1080p, Snapdragon 800 and 2GB of RAM. It's a beast!!

Yes I'm actually leaning towards a N4 if I have too cause I like that silly curve for some reason. Maybe touch wiz will grow on me. In meantime hope this N6 is not 5.9

It's looking like the Nexus 6 will definitely be 5.9. I could go for that. qHD, SD805, 3gb RAM, 3200mah batt and stock Android. Yeah, I could definitely go for that.

Sounds like an ecosystem decision to me instead of a device one.

IMO, no contest as far as the devices: The Note 4 has a better display, micro sd, replaceable battery, FAR less constrained OS and is almost half an inch shorter.

If you are considering the 6 Plus, that means size is not an issue, so the M8 also does not stand up to the N4. It does not have a replaceable battery, much smaller display and an annoying IMO navigation bar hogging the 5" display space. The display for the user is literally a full inch smaller than the N4 display.

No contest as far device comparison. Just need to decide if you want the Apple eco or Android. I have both since have an Air as well. Both are good in their own ways.

    Added:

I do admit I wish the A8 was in the Note 4 due to the more powerful CPU design, but the 805 GPU is better than the A8. I prefer more CPU power due to emulators.

I agree, it comes down to the OS. The 6+ and N4 are both well built hardware, but in the end I'll take Android over iOS.

Ok, so I stopped by another BB and they had a white and a black N4 on display. The black is definitely the best looking of the two. I checked the screens and the gaps seemed acceptable but I noticed something else that I don't care for. The way the phone is designed is like a tray. The screen and internals are just laying in the case. Nothing but glue to keep them from coming out in the front. They are flush with the edge of the metal trim but if you press on any of the corners the entire screen and internals will move around. As usual Samsung screws up a beautiful phone by not knowing how to put the damn thing together.

I don't think I can pay over $800 for this thing.

I am on my third phone of 2014, technically speaking you could say fourth phone. i went from the Samsung galaxy s-3 to two different nexus 4 devices to an LG Optimus L90. i was looking at the HTC m one 8 and either maybe the galaxy note 4 or Samsung galaxy s5. but my second replacement nexus4 gave out and needed a fast replacement. i got the LG Optimus L90 because while not as fancy as the LG G2 or G3, its a decent phone for under $200. to me it came down to need vs want.

I was. Now I'm thinking not. I'm just never satisfied with Samsung's build quality. It just sucks compared to Apple, LG, Nokia and HTC. They make nice phones that are poorly constructed. I'll just get a 6+ and be done with it.

You went around the world in 2 days. LOL

I have an iPhone 6. In fact, I typically do buy each new iteration of the iPhone - but not as my primary phone. My office mail and calendar is connected to it. But for my regular day to day use - I continue to stick with Android. To be honest, I think it comes down to which ecosystem you want. I have discovered this time, however, that the ecosystem doesn't really play into a lot of people's minds. I read about people switching to the other because of the big size. I could just never bring myself to it. The freedom Android brings to me is something I treasure and will keep me with it.

10+ more days of waiting while my GS4 is slowly dying. The Note4 launch can't come soon enough.

Yes I did. It was a bumpy ride!!! I wanted to want the Note 4 but I just can't get over the way Samsung puts a phone together. Last year I was in this same situation with the Note 3 and LG G2. I reluctantly picked a black Note 3 and ended up taking it back a week later and getting a white G2. I was very happy with the G2, in fact, I've owned 2 of them. I don't want to do the same thing this year. The Note 4 is a beast, no doubt and I am very much a spec geek but the issues with the build ruin it for me. Not so much the gap thing, that seems like a minor issue. The thing that really did it for me was how the entire screen and internals will move around with a little pressure on one of the corners. The screen and internal components are literally just laying in the chassis, held in with a little adhesive. The phone cost too much to be assembled like that. I probably sound picky to some but I've owned a lot of high end phones and I know what I like and what I don't like.

I ordered a 6+ yesterday as well as an Incipio Feather Case. I'll do the iPhone thing for a while and then maybe a Nexus 6 sometime next year when some mint condition ones show up on eBay.

My issues with Samsung phones doesn't mean I'm anti-Samsung. I'm typing this on a Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. This is a great tablet and I got a great deal at Best Buy. $249 for a premium tab with a Snapdragon 800, 2GB of Ram and a beautiful 2560x1440 screen.

Not seeing a build issue with the Note 3 or expecting one with the Note 4 (used one for 45 minutes and build was good).

What IS the most statistically high issue though is battery decline and failure. Simple fix for the Notes but not devices with fixed batteries.

This is especially true for keeping a device beyond a year. Some Apple users do not get it when after a year they start harping on battery life. The correlation to battery life is far closer to battery age/use than an OS update.
