Hard keyboard - how do you hold the phone while typing?

    Hi - first post!

I have a Milestone (Droid) which I think is excellent, but I'm struggling with the hard keyboard - I haven't found a way of holding the handset comfortably while using the keyboard efficiently.

Any suggestions? Tomorrow is the last day I can return it, so I'd love to crack this one/only major issue.

    Cheers

maybe it would be better if you said how you are holding it that makes it awkward. I can't think of many ways to hold it, well I can, but most of them seem unconventional...

Kind of difficult to describe: perhaps it's the weight of the corners when resting on my hands, esp the right.

Latest issue is about a 30 second lag with the typing on both keyboards. Plus it then catches up v slowly, one letter every two seconds!

I rest the phone on my fingers and type with my thumbs.

I've tried typing with my fingers on a hard surface, but that's nowhere near as comfortable...

This is an easy one, hold it with the physical keyboard closed. It sucks anyways and the onscreen keyboard is good

Check out the Swype aftermarket keyboard app. Its not in the market place but a lil googling will find it. With a little getting used to it blows the standard keyboard away.

    Thanks.

Not sure chris or drgonzo that your suggestions help with the hard keyboard.

The HD2 begins to look appealing if I can't get comfortable with it.

30 second keyboard lag? That's insane.

No joke! The only issue I have with the keyboard is the lack of a tab key.

I hold it just as that picture shows, seems the most natural way to do it.

Is the lag happaning when typing in online textareas, such as in this forum, or does it also happen while typing in text messages or in the gmail/email app?

I hold the Droid down with 1 foot on each side and type with my mouth.

The only time I saw any sort of typing lag was when there was simply too much stuff running (usually after updating like 10 apps from market).

I thought the same, but I only had the browser running. Not even had time to switch it on today! so not had a check to see whether it's back to normal.

Will try typing on it in a bit.

I hold my keyboard in the same manner as the photo. As far as the tab key, isn't it just Alt+A? I haven't tried it, but I assumed that's what that symbol was.

I have no noticable lag with my Droid.

I thought the same thing, but alt+a does nothing.
