Nah, I will never go back, touch wiz was cool but I always found myself flashing an AOSP ROM....can't ask for anything better than KitKat. Also my battery is better than my S3, right now as I'm typing this I'm at 84% @ 11h 48m...I can't be more happier than that. :smokingsomb:

What's your screen on time in that 12 hours?

I was inquiring about the Nexus Line with a sales rep at a large carrier. He told me that quite a few manufacturers make the Nexus line of phones which surprised me?

Google partners with different manufacturers to make Nexus devices. The Nexus One was HTC, Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus were Samsung, the Nexus 7 (2012 & 2013) ASUS, Nexus 10 Samsung, Nexus 4 and 5 LG. They are all Google devices.

I actually used my S3 after the 4.3 upgrade. I was a huge S3 fan, Loved that phone.

After using it for just a couple of days, I realized I like the N5 better. It doesn't have some of the pluses that the S3 has but is so much quicker and more smooth at what it does. And the screen!

And BTW.....................do I need to go into length about the boot loader and rooting? :)

Yes, but it's way easy if you use an all-in-one like WugFresh. A couple of clicks and you're done.

Yes, I've gone back to my old 5 pound cell phone, I found my arm strength was disappearing because the Nexus 5 is too light.

Actually, my prior phone was the LG Optimus V, great work horse phone...but a slug compared to the N5!

I use my Moto X as my main phone, I had been planning to use the N5 but I am having trouble letting go of the X. I love the N5 though, honestly I think I could be happy with either device. But they are just different. I still plan to use the N5 for awhile soon, but have yet to move my SIM. I would really mis active notifications, contextual wake up and the always on voice I think.

This is just silly. There is nothing "last year" about the specs or anything "inferior" about the build quality of the X. In fact, build quality is far better on the X than the N5.

Rather, the N5 has been dinged in a lot of reviews for its "unashamedly cheap" build quality. Which is fine, that's what a Nexus is.

Anyways, not to poke a stick at you... but honestly you find something to look down on for every device. And you seem to change devices like some people change jackets. That's fine, if that's your thing but I think you tend to exaggerate any devices non-strong points.

I'll give ya the screen differences, but that's about it.

Anyways, I am holding both in my hands right now. They are both fantastic. And both beat the pants of the S4 and HTC One (IMO).

Build quality is better on the moto X? You my friend are way off here! The build quality on the X is just absolutely terrible, it feels like a bad Fisher Price toy with uneven panels with some sides being rough and some being smooth, wobbly cheap buttons, and Yea a pretty inferior screen.

The 3 things I just mentioned have been mentioned in a ton of articles when the moto x is described. Does that make it a really bad phone? No not in my opinion. Its been some people's top phone of 2013, and that's cool, everyone is entitled to their own decision. But yes once we break into 2014 those moto X specs will be very last generation.

And the build quality on the N5, especially the black version, is just much better built then the moto x any day of the week. Unless you have tiny little hands, then of course you'll favor the X because of the bigger footprint.

Also yes I switch devices very often, I may go through 5 or 6 devices while someone else is still rockin the same device. But that's just me, I don't boast about it, that's just my thing. I like the moto X, and think its a pretty fine phone with a lot of strengths, however I ended up with a well made nexus 5 unit and wouldn't entertain going back to the moto X...Again just my opinion, if you feel otherwise, that's your opinion.

Nope, only ever upgraded so went from HTC Hero to Galaxy S2 to Nexus 5. Not interested in any other device. I love my Nexus 5.

Rooted, loads of things frozen via Titanium, a few Xposed modules installed like Wanam Kit and App Ops to tweak things.

I get good to very good battery life, definitely don't see that as a problem.

And I love how fast it is. On my old phones pressing the home button or back button there was always delay. With the N5 it's instant anytime, every time. App switching is a dream.

To be honest, it's good to have high standards, I dont fault you for that.

But we'll have to agree to disagree about the Moto X build quality. I feel it is excellent and have seen quite a few reviews say the same. I'm not so sure about the N5.

I am curious though -- I have an N5 with the white back, how do you like the all-black one in comparison?

I like the black nexus 5 much better then the white version! It feels like its all one piece while the white feels and looks like its basically 3 materials squashed together, those 3 pieces being the back plate, the screen, and the shiny sides that wrap around.

I had the white one first, then switched back to the moto x for a little bit and then my black n5 arrived and it was basically a no contest. The black moto x IMO feels and looks like one of the best devices I've ever handled. And this is coming from someone who really likes white phones. I wish they would have made the white nexus 5 just like the white nexus 7...

I really like the black version as well  the soft touch back feels great

My phones in a case 95% of the time anyway, so I'll just deal with it

I used to have one of those. It was way ahead of its time, with dual external stereo speakers, circular dialer widget, and detachable tethered earpiece. How I long for those days of being on the bleeding edge of tech. :)

I think I would be happy with either black or white, I went with the white simply because of the availability at the time and I must say I really like it. It has a sharp classy look and I couldn't be happier but with that being said, my devices are always in cases.

Well, I have to admit, I am back to my note 2 still on 4.1.2 and have been back for a couple weeks now.

There are a couple factors for doing this:
I have crap reception at work and it eats battery, it eats the battery in my note 2 as well, but I have a bit more battery to work with as well as a spare that can be quickly swapped. Now, I know what you are saying... turn off 4g / go into airplane mode! Well, that kind of defeats the purpose of having a portable device.

The other factor is, I can't hear the nexus 5 notifications. Kind of a big deal if I am weather watching.

Music volume. I wish for something a little louder, though this is not as bad as the previous two reasons.

I dropped the thing and got a small crack in the LCD and gnarled up the corners. So, the device is back to backup status for now.

Previous phone was an S3, used it on a couple of occasions since getting the N5 and I certainly don't feel the love for it like I used to.

conversely, i had gotten a n5 when they first came out, but traded for a lg g2 after i was having trouble not altering the volume every time i tried to deactivate the screen. well, after a couple months of the lg skin (sorry, don't know it's name) i traded back for another n5.

it may not be the ultimate handset, but none to this point have been. it's as close to a 'keeper' as i have come...and trust me, i've been through quite a few phones. much to the chagrin of my baffled friends and family. :)

other recent stalwarts have been the motorola atrix hd (loved the phone, hated the battery life) and i still have a beater htc one x that i use when i don't need to keep the phone from some possible harmful situations: ie, work.

the last samsung offering i had was an s2. i am no fan of touchwiz.

Ummm you can buy that phone.... Well not that phone but something close to it and use it as a cell phone too. I'm considering buying for just for the hell of it.

There's no phone out there that can match it's 1 month's standby time for less then $70. The N5 got nothing on this phone!! :p
