how to force the Eris to take an update when one's in the stream?
That I know of is "Settings/About phone/System updates"
And no you can't get 2.1 just yet...
teh *#*#checkin#*#* might work
yell at it?
tried that too...... wow that was a strange look from the wife!!
If your trying to catch 2.1, your out of luck unless you live in one of the first areas of the release. (not saying it has been released yet, please don't get too excited)
Yea, but that just tells you if there's an update available (i.e. has been downloaded and is ready to apply I think). In the case of a rolling update, that won't show anything until the update gets to you.
What I'm looking for is a way to force the update to happen...
*#*#CHECKIN#*#* was what I was thinking of, but found too that it didn't really do anything.
when its released on the Eris update site, yes. Until then no
what does: *#*#CHECKIN#*#* mean? do you imput that? text it? call it?
just type it in like your making a call but don't hit send
I just tried this and it my notification bar it came up as success. But still no update!
Yeah...That means your phone is up to date.
Cut the end off your usb plug
pull the wires out
insert directly into the wall outlet
update in progress
(if anyone actually does that its not my fault)
Note, sparking is normal when this update is being applied, it is all of the bits being rewritten to 2.1.
I want to try this with my old iPhone. Maybe it'll add multitasking
