I had my Incredible for a year, never used a screen protector and I have no scratches. However, after I got my first Tbolt scratch after a week. It was very fine and difficult to see when the screen was on. After another week I had another one.

I thought this glass would be as strong as my DINC but it doesn't seem to be.

Anyone else have this issue with the TBolt?

No scratches for me either, but im treating this thing like a baby too.:D My old droid1 was a tough customer, as i dropped that thing all the time an never scratched it. Ive been considering getting a screen protector as well, but i got one for my wifes nook an i was never able to get it on there without any bubbles either:mad:

My wife managed to get her Bolt screen scratched within a week. A small scratch in an inconspicous area, but still...she is pretty careful about not scratching her phones. We both have screen guards now.

Keep in mind that your DINC had a much smaller screen, so less area to get scratched. I think on these bigger phones, a screen guard is a must.

Does the guard make the screen react any differently? I can never get those on without a bubble or two!

Thanks for the responses. Not sure that the size should mean the difference between a 4.3 inch screen with two scratches in a month vs a 3.7 with none in a year.

IMO a contributing factor may be how slippery this phone is. The screen and the back are so slick, I have to be careful where a set it, especially in the car when I make turn.

Not with the guard that I am using. My screen is still very sensitive. It's tough to get them on without bubbles but I managed to do it on our two Bolts. You can't even tell there is a guard on it at all. I use the Steinhill(sp?) cover - the "crystal" version.

I recently got a scratch on my phone. It was in the glove compartment on my boat. My friend threw is phone and keys in there and something scratched my phone. I just went to Best Buy and had them put on the Zagg hoping it would conceal the scratch. No such luck but at least now my phone doesn't get smudged with finger prints.

By the way, I also had an Incredible before this phone. It went on my boat many times with keys and other such things in the glove box and never once got scratched. I never had a screen protector on it either.

I haven't had this issue. Primarily because when I buy a $300 phone I do things like put a screen protector and a case on it so something doesn't happen to it and then I'm out $300.

To some people 300 bucks may not be a lot of money but to me the phone is practically an investment. I didn't leave the store until the verizon guy put a screen protector, case, and insurance on the phone.

I'm using the standard verizon screen protector on my Tbolt... it doesn't cover the entire screen but it doesn't have a single bubble. Looks pretty good and it feels normal.

I have one scratch on the screen protector which makes me happy i put it on there... that scratch could be on the actual screen right now.

    Unfortunately, yes..

I was cleaning my screen with a 'monitor wipe' and noticed a small scratch after. No idea if that's when it happened, or just when I noticed it. Very surprising since I'm extremely anal about cleaning my phone. I don't even like carrying it in my pocket unless I have to.

    Guess I just got unlucky..

Now I only use tissue or 100% cotton, and canned air to blow it off afterwards. Being careful with the canned air so I don't freeze the screen..

If you're worried about bubbles, if you buy the protector at a place like Best Buy, they will put it on for you. It costs a few bucks, but they guarantee it.

Though these were made with the same Corning Gorilla glass that was in my Droid 1?

Just because it has the glass doesnt mean its scratch proof. Its just more resistant than other glass is to scratches.

The glass in my Droid 1 was virtually impossible to scratch. I used to run a key over the glass as a demo and never scratched it. I won't be doing the same demo with the TB!

The guy at Verizon told me the TB isn't made with Gorilla Glass...of course, take this with a grain of salt, considering the source, but it was enough to get me to buy the protector. Never got a scratch on my OG Droid, and I was abusive!

The TB screen feels 'slicker' than others with Gorilla glass to me. Maybe it is an exterior coating that is scratching.

Carried my Tbolt gently for a month now. Just noticed one small scratch. Having carried the BB Storm *gag* scratch-free for two years with no protector, I was assuming that Gorilla Glass was strong enough for my lifestyle.

Guess I have to spend more $ for plastic slipcovers for my phone, just like my grandma and her couches lol.
