Just did the same (with TWRP, though), no problems, yay me.
It simply updated in a Very short matter of time & required no re-rooting.
the wife's has upgraded OTA,
mines still shows no upgrade
You're not the only one. Apparently, it's possible to sideload KitKat, but I can't be bothered to do so as there's no features that are actually compelling enough for me to bother.
Ah, yes, to be honest, as as myself, 4.3 works fine
The OTA updates roll out via a lottery system.
This one has been slower than usual, so they may have caught wind of some problems early on
got the 4.4 update from google tonight (normal download).downloaded without any problem but have not had time really to see if there is much difference, may be slightly faster and smoother, the only thing i have noticed is on chrome instead of pressing the three marks at the top right hand corner to press the bookmarks selection etc,you now put your finger on the three marks and swyping down to your selection.apart from that it seems the same as before.will investigate more tomorrow.
i just got it and with my nova launcher i have the transparent status bar also now
Got the OTA update to 4.4 about an hour ago. No problems so far. I'm also not seeing much difference except the WiFi and battery indicators are white instead of blue. Indiana here if that matters. LOL
That's about my take on it too. 4.3 was much more fun.
Yeah I got it too, on both my 2012 and 2013
I manually upgraded my N7... had to since I had CM on it. The second OTA was a snap, checked twice and the DL started.
Just got my hands on my wife's N7 and it's still on 4.3 and no amount of hammering the "check now" button will convince it to start.
Maybe I need to talk "dirty" to it?
I'm Oh'fer two, Gen 1 & Gen 2
installing right now!
i just got the ping from google too for the update. does anyone have a unrooted N7, and updated ota yet? i have heard things about errors and such, memory loss, etc. please share your experience before i click install!! lbvs :3
Google engineer explains how Android updates roll out and why you shouldn
I just got the notification for the 4.4 update on my 2012 N7 earlier this evening. I ran a new set of TiBu backups and then kicked off the download/update. It rebooted into TWRP and did nothing. I eventually rebooted manually from there, but now I can't trigger the update notification again, even by checking for updates manually.
1. If the update is already downloaded, where did it get saved to? Can I just reboot into TWRP and flash the downloaded file in order to perform the update?
2. If the update didn't download, how can I get it to send me the update notification again? Did I miss my chance?!
Makes sense. That explains why some "lucky" people who get the OTA early sometimes get more issues than those who get it later.
I've seen this pattern before with Android updates but put it down to user errors - the impatient early updaters perhaps being a bit careless - but Google's rollout strategy is the real reason.
just updated; some sound changes, minor ui changes, everything is white, not that surprising. just a pinch faster. i feel like we were robbed of the genuine kit kat experience, i feel like we only got the wrapper :/
It's the healthy option
I'm unrooted here, no issues yet that I can see.
My stock, unrooted 2012 N7 is downloading Kitkat as I type.
Just updated mine ota.
I just got the update ota about an hour ago, now am stuck in "No command" loop.
I'm kidding, congrats to all of you. I'm still patiently waiting on both my 2012 and 2013 models.
