    Hi all,

I have been experimenting with my Hero trying to recieve Hotmail as efficiently as I could recieve my Gmail. I read somewhere on here about importing mail from hotmail to your gmail account via the gmail settings.

I did this, went successfully and I could view all my hotmail from my gmail account on my computer. I checked on my phone whether all the emails had appeared but they weren't showing up, even with new 'test' emails

So as it happens I need to check a new hotmail email and as I am on messenger its easy to, but now there is absolutely no emails in my genuine hotmail account! It's like they are now bypassing it straight to the gmail account?

If I delete the connection in the gmail settings will the emails return to my hotmail inbox or be lost forever? 150+ emails here :(

Sorry if that is totally confusing, don't know the proper terms for alot of this.

    Thanks

There should be a setting in your hotmail...It will say something like if you wanna keep or delete emails from the server when they are forwarded. I don't use hotmail anymore so I'm not 100% sure.

    Yeah...

Go into settings and go to Forward E-Mail to another account option....

There's a tickbox that asks if you want to keep a copy of forwarded messages in your inbox...

    Make sure it's ticked...

I'm not sure about e-mail that's already forwarded....but you could always send them all back to hotmail...if you want them...

I am using my transition to Android to wean myself from Hotmail and migrate to Gmail. I have been wanting to do so for some time, so here's my chance to break.

It's going to be interesting. I have been attached to my Hotmail account for years. I'm still going to maintain it because of some other Microsoft services I use. But for day to day comm, it's going to be Gmail from now on.

Good luck though on your other issues. I am going to avoid the hotmail push-apps I have seen out there out of fear of the same stuff you are experiencing.

Hero - I did the exact same thing last night on my Samsung Moment. I set up my Hotmail to push to my Gmail account... and did not click the "save copy on server" box. So, as soon as the emails were accessed by my Gmail, they were deleted from my Hotmail inbox. All 200 of them. LOL! (hysterical laughter... not funny ha-ha laughter). This has been a huge issue ever since I got my phone 12 days ago... and I'm on the verge of it becoming a deal breaker. It seems the only way I can access my Hotmail via my phone is if I go through the web browser, or if I use the Gmail app & double read/double delete all of my emails. So annoying.

If I don't get it figured out by this weekend, I'm going back to my Palm Treo 755p.

    C ~
