Have you ever met anyone famous - actor, celeb, sports person etc? And did their real life persona match up to what you expected?
Best I can do is this guy Robert Picardo, who signed my Star Trek encyclopedia at a local shopping centre. He was very nice.

I kid you not but I met Jacob Zuma at a car wash before he become El Presedente of South Africa.

He was driving a really expensive car but this was a long times ago or so before he got so big in politics in SA.

He is a ****ing scum bag. I didn't chat too much to him because I would rate he had an IQ of a gold fish give or take.

He does not even have a matric... couldn't talk that well at all... so yes I have seen an ass hole worse than satan shit head in real life.

He looks even more evil in real life... if a turd and a turtle had a baby... that is what the result would be.

So yes I have met someone extremely famous in real life before they became very famous.

    MORE LIKE INFAMOUS THOUGH.

    I hope he dies soon.

    ^^^ And by stark contrast...

When I was still living in Fort Collins, Colorado, a friend of mine got a small group of us backstage passes to a concert at the Pepsi Center in Denver. I drove all of us in a friend's van through a horrible storm (heavy wind, rain and hail, tornadoes in the area) and we had a wonderful time at the concert. (The storm had passed by the time we got out, so the drive home was very enjoyable.)

During an intermission as they changed the stage for the next set (different musicians) we went to the backstage area, where I met Amy Grant. Obviously she has wonderful talent, but she was warm and gracious even though she was very time-rushed.

This is from 1997, which was about the time I met her. She was much smaller in person (stature-wise) than I had thought. ;)

I have met a few in the process of my career (Mike Ditka - Former head coach of the NFL Bears, Marcus Allen - Former running back Chiefs and Raiders, Members of the Dixie Chicks and Rascal Flats, some others) I used to book corporate speaking events and ... well events.

Other than that I was at KCI Airport leaving for Dallas years ago, probably 20 years ago, and ran into Mohamed Ali and his handlers they were very nice and accommodating, shook his hand, yadda yadda - what I took away from it? He was not all there, the years of abuse certainly took their toll. I felt really bad for him.

I met Dorthy McGuire while out dining in the Phoenix area a number of years back. I was visiting my daughter and we were out eating at her favorite Italian restaurant when she pointed Dorthy out to me.
I understand that it was Dorthy McGuire's favorite restaurant as well. After we had dined I had stepped out for a smoke and Dorthy stepped out as well. She was waiting for her husband to bring the truck around and she commented that she enjoyed the aroma of my pipe tobacco. I told her that my mother was a huge music buff and I had a heavy exposure to her music as I was growing up and had gained an appreciation. She seemed flattered that I knew who she was.

For all you youngins out there that never heard of the McGuire sisters...

Okay, I'll bite: what was their favorite Italian restaurant? I grew up in Phoenix and get back there quite regularly, Italian would be good for a change on one of the trips. Typically we go for Mexican food since Phoenix has plenty of good places for that! :D

Pasta Brioni's. I had to text my daughter... I had no idea the name... been too long. I remember it being a high dollar place and in Phoenix. My daughter lived in Chandler. When googling up that vid I posted I see that Dorothy died in 2012. I have another daughter that just moved from Chandler to California. She took her sweetie to Pasta Brioni's for Valentine's Day this year so they are still open.
Great food but on the expensive side. I will say this for the place.... they took care of our party like we were royalty.

I met Grace Park in an elevator once in Vancouver. I was tongue tied and couldn't say anything. At least my wife managed to say, "We like your show (BSG)." on my behalf.

I went to school with an actor named Michael Andealuz. He goes by a different name now: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0025891/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t17

Muhammad Ali walked into my barbershop when I was about ten years old or so. He was visiting the Masjid al-Quran Mosque sort of across the street. It was so cool. He was by himself just a regular guy, no entourage or celebrity folderol.

I forgot to mention that I met Rikki Lindhome and Kate Micucci after a show in SF. They're both very personable, funny and full of energy. I'm always happy to see one of them on TV, if you get a chance to see them together (Garfunkel & Oates), do so. Very talented and funny, though a bit risque in their act.

Nobody too famous, Jason Buck who played for the Redskins in the early 90's. Got to hold his Super Bowl ring, so that was cool.
