General HD wallpaper question

    Okay so here's the problem: when i set a my own wallpaper (960x854) for my home screen, it is usually lacking in detail and the image is not sharp/crisp as it should be compared to the stock wallpapers in the x10. Does anyone know why this is the case? Are the stock wallpapers different sizes or something?

    How are you converting it?

    Most applications use JPG compression and reduce it's quality and make it look blurry and grainy.

    I have noticed that using wallpapers that don't have too many colours work the best (like a black and white image or something like that)

    The wallpapers on the phone are PNG files and when you import your own wallpapers they are usually JPG files.

    I think you can copy PNG files on the phone with the rest stock wallpapers, but I never tried.

    JPG files are the most used, but can be the worst quality.

    Even huge like 1920x1200 can be blurry if you actually zoom in and take a look....it usually means the image has been recopied, or brought into some application and added or edited something.
