Did we ever get an official ruling on the HDMI Output type, and is there one on Monoprice?
I believe it is just mini HDMI, pretty sure Monoprice carries those
It is micro-HDMI, not mini. Different types for sure.
Sorry misread the specs
You can order them from
These are HDMI type D to type A cables. 6 and a half foot long. Monoprice doesn't have them yet. Mine was $18.06 shipped. Should be here Monday.
Thanks to Cary328is on the other board for finding them.
Won't the dock come with a cable?
Probably. I'd be interested in the dock if it came with a remote or something. Otherwise a HDMI cable, kickstand, and power cable (if I need it) will be fine for me.
Dock will most likely be much more expensive than a cable.
Unfortunately, it looks like the dock is coming out after launch.
A remote would be a nice touch, given the playback controls are otherwise on-screen.
In a perfect world I could dock my phone next to the tv, sit on my couch and control my content.
But... I doubt we'd be so fortunate.
I'd love a remote. I'm thinking that I will probably be able to just plug my phone into the USB port of my Western Digital TV Live box and navigate through my content with its remote though. Probably only do this to occasionally watch video that I recorded with the phone (or transfer videos from the phone to my external HD that's hooked up to the WDTV Live)
Awesome find! Thanks for posting.
I'll be waiting two more weeks for monoprice, then Arrow if worse comes to worse.
I must say, this is the firs time monoprice doesn't stock a cable I need. They seem to have everything.
A little confusion here.
According to this article "type-D" and micro-HDMI cables are different? Or am I missing something.
New micro HDMI connector for mobile devices - www.nordichardware.com
No. Type D is microHDMI. Were you confusing it with the listed microUSB?
I'm not sure. The way that article reads on the subject of Type D, "They will be about as small as existing micro USB connectors." And Type D has 19 pins vs micro's 5.
MicroHDMI (type D) has 19 pins and MicroUSB has 5.
Monoprice doesn't have a MicroHDMI cable yet as the EVO is the first device that uses the new connector that is part of the HMDMI 1.4 spec, or at least is the first that I am aware of.
Ah, I missed the acronym twice! Embarrassing, thanks for the clarification.
i sent monoprice an email earlier today about when they think they would stock it. havent had a response yet
I was going to do the same but you beat me to it. Maybe I'll email anyway to light a fire under their asses.
I'm guessing this would work also:
DealExtreme: $12.20 Gold Plated HDMI V1.4 Male to Micro HDMI Male Shielded Connection Cable (1M-Length)
yup that would work. pretty good price but shipping takes forever! lol
i answered this question in a thread weeks ago. this is direct from an HTC America tech:
you can also rest assured Sprint will have the cable at launch. price is up to Sprint but they will have one...
<shrug>Order it now, you might have it in time for the launch...
Or get it from Arrow and have it by Monday.
Unless you are on the East Coast. I ordered mine yesterday morning and it was shipped yesterday. Says it will arrive May 26. Fedex Ground out of Reno, NV.
