So I am in the market for a new head unit for my car, and I have seen tons of newer head units with a USB Port or the ability to stream audio via Bluetooth, and they claim they can control "most" mp3 players, including iPods and iPhones.

I am still holding out for the official sprint/HTC car mount, but if I was to buy a new head unit now, should I just get one with a standard 3.5mm aux in, and deal with having two wires (audio and a cigarette charger) attached to my phone?

Basically what I am asking is, does anyone know if any of the new USB/Bluetooth capable head units are able to either Charge/Play Music over USB with the Evo, or, Stream Audio via Bluetooth from the Evo.

If so, which ones in particular would you recommend.

Either case resulting in only one cable draped across my dashboard to my phone. (I hate wire messes)

*Edit: I have seen the posts regarding mounting the SD card to head units via USB, but that is not my goal - I want to do things such as Pandora, GPS, or the Sirius android App into the car stereo, not just browse my mp3's*

You can play anything through the usb via phone to the headunit through a usb, you just can't control it through the cd player itself.

I love streaming music through bluetooth in my car... I have a 7 inch touch screen with dvd/cd (innovatek) When I get a call it displays it on the screen & I can choose to use the car stereo or the phone to talk while driving.

If my phone bluetooth is on it automatically connects to my car if i'm near ...no messing with any wires.

Yeah probably anything with a front mounted auxiliary in, would be the way to go... I don't know if a front mounted usb port would be good.. the radio probably wouldn't recognize the file structure.. but who knows...

best thing would be is to go into a stereo store/best buy and just play around...

I am hoping to get an answer. I have sorted through dozens of posts and I cant tell you how many radio specs. I am trying to get the better half a radio and an EVO for Christmas. I have the EVO now I am looking to replace her Head Unit in her car. Its 2002 Ford and I am looking to spend about $500 for it. Does anyone have a definitive good HU that will interface All the phone and multimedia features with the phone. Especially the bluetooth. She is on the road over 100 miles a day and the phone and radio are the perfect gift if I can find the right unit in time.

I will post back some good ones in a bit

I have an older jvc that has just about everything one would need... the newer ones are awesome

pioneer has some great ones as well
kenwood too

are you guys looking for single din or dual din? dvd playback touch screen etc? or just basic?

I have an older version (non touch screen) JVC KD-AVX77 DVD receiver at Crutchfield Signature

These all have build in bt and play dvds among other features

Car Selector

these are just basic...with bleutooth built in
Car Selector

so narrow those down by what you want using the menu on the left. want built in sd card reader? click that etc.

some have aux inputs on the front..others in the back. mine actually has a cable for usb and aux in that come from the back but that I ran into the glovebox for hiding

once you pick a few grab the model number and past it in google, press search..then click shopping
(might as well make sure you get a good price right?)
then take the part numbers

I have the Sony BT3800U, and it works great with my phone.

It has the front USB port that does charge the phone, but doesn't do any music through it. It has A2DP for bluetooth audio that works.

The only complaint I have is apparently an android problem where it's confused if I try to make a call, and come through the phone instead of the stereo. If I answer, it'll come through the car. I discovered if the phone wasn't plugged in, and I made a call it would come through the stereo.

I can't remember how I fixed this on mine...when I get my car out of the shop I will toy with it
