Hello there, I am currently using an iPhone 4 but couldn't stand the 3G speed in buildings (at work). So I'd like to choose from one of the upcoming LTE devices, Razr, Rezound, or Nexus. Nexus is my 1st choice for now.

I am streaming music using Pandora and some other app every day for 2 hours at least. With iPhone, I have a good pair of earphones connected to a wired remote control ($11 from Amazon), that would allow me to pause, play, go to next track, fast forward, etc without touching the phone. I wonder if I choose one of the android phones, is there any remote control options out there? Or is this something I have to give up entering the Android world?

Currently I am running CM7 which is an AOSP rom which is closest to vanilla android, I am using my Beats by Dr. Dre which the black cable that has the music controls. It's pretty much just one button but I can control my music player from it. I can pause, play, skip songs as i please with it. Hope that answers your questions

I use a Rocketfish RF-MAB2 Bluetooth stereo headset that supports voice dial and has all the controls I need for my music (pause/play, back/forward). It's as close to a "remote" as I can understand... I mean, if you're going to pick up a remote, can't you just pick up your phone?

With the remote it took me half a second to press the remote on the table to pause the music if I got a call, otherwise I'd need to pick up the phone, double click home button, then press pause. Also it's a lot easier to operate with a remote while on the train/plane without taking out the phone.

The Nexus One came with a set that had these features -- they were a bit cheap-ish but nice enough for general use. The control also had a mic in it for hands-free calling.

Dunno if the NS had this or not.

I have Beats Solo HDs with the controller on it. While it does work with the default music app, it does not work with Spotify. I would assume that if it doesn't work with Spotify, it probably won't work with other third party Apps like Pandora. If I get around to it, I will check Pandora.

Wow, this is promising. I really really hope Google will keep it up and have the same headset shipped with G-nex.

Anyone know of a bluetooth headset with remote to control songs?

There are many stereo bluetooth headsets with music control, such as Motorola S305. However, bluetooth connection will eat your battery in no time. Your phone would only last a few hours if you are streaming music over 3G/LTE while using bluetooth.

Shouldn't be too bad if we're not streaming music though. What's the range of the remote?

I have been using a pair of Sony DR-BT21G for the last 4 years when I need to be cordless. I have used these with Android(moto/htc), BB and iPhone/iPad. I have been very pleased with them. Do they match the acoustics of my old Shure E5c, no but then again I am wireless and able to control playback and volume directly from the headset. You may want to pick up an old pair or check for the modern version. DR-BT21G/B | Stereo Bluetooth

I recommend MEElectronics CC-51P for the best bang for the buck, if you aren't a basshead. Those were reviewed very positively on head-fi and the price is well under $60. I use A151 which is a model balanced-armature driver, and it surely sounds on par with sub-$200 headphones.

I have the M6P that cost under $20 and they're perfect with Comply foam tips. They don't fall off because they wrap around your ear. Had to exchange them a few times but the process is painless. They seemed to have fixed the problems in their newest design.

Jabra 3030 Bluetooth headset with remote that looks like a dog tag. Works for me because I can use it to feed my helmet speakers and control it using gloves.

I have tried so many bluetooth headphones and I just can't handle the audio quality. Maybe I just haven't spent enough money...

Either way, back to the OP. I think GTIMKV had something like this in mind:
Amazon.com: iLuv iEA15blk Remote Adapter for Earbuds & Headphones: MP3 Players & Accessories

It's $5.91 and could be used with any headphone. Ever since I stopped using my iPod and started using my Dinc instead and I have been searching for something like it but gave up a long time ago.

Do you think the Gnex will support a wired remote similar to above?

Just to be clear, they were pretty cheap headphones with meh sound, but they worked ok and looked schweet.

  20. Now that the Nexus has been released has anyone found any headphones that work 100% with the Android operating system similar to the Klipsch Image S4A. I have my eyes on the Klipsch Image One but i don't know if all the functions will work properly.

I know there are plenty of bluetooth options but I just don't want to have to worry about having to charge something else and add the fact I stream music from Google Music, that along with bluetooth will be murder on the battery.

quality? yea its one of best at that price range, it satisfies even very picky audiophiles.
only bad side is that u gotta take real good care of it.. it doesnt last that long if u treat it like stock earbuds..
my replacement comes in 18th then i can try it on GNex. my previous one (just image s4) broke so i ordered image s4a yesterday.

  22. Thanks for the reply but I prefer on the ear or over the ear headphones. Buds tend to hurt my ears after long use.

I'm using the Etymotic MC3 and in stock form, the GNex only support single button.(Volume +/- does not work.) Even then, the middle button only allow for play/pause/advance, no previous.

There's an app out there called JAYS headset (free) that works fairly well. You still won't be able to use the volume +/-, but it makes the centre button customizable. (1 click to play/stop, two to advance, three to go back, etc...) I use the default click+hold to volume + and double click+hold to volume -.
