Okay so I am really excited I found this forum.

My girlfriend and I recently moved to Korea so we are both rocking Android phones now and enjoying the smartphone life. I am glad to find a place to read more information about Android stuff. :)

I have an HTC Desire which I am thoroughly enjoying and she has a Sky Vega which has proven to be not so awesome.

I was unable to find the correct forum to make a help post because I can't find Sky as a manufacturer on this website (I don't think they make phones for an English market and search brought up lots of unrelated stuff about Vega phones)

My question is this: How can she manually check for updates? On every other Android phone I have ever seen you just go to "About Phone" and click system updates but on her phone, when you go to "About Phone" there is no option to check for system updates.

Basically, she had an alert saying she needed to update (whether it was firmware or Android OS I'm not sure) but it said she didn't have enough battery left (it gets like 12 hours when fully charged....its awful) to update so she ignored it and now the prompt hasn't come back up, despite restarting multiple times and turning wifi on/off.

Frankly the whole menu system on this sky phone is really wonky and it totally blows :p

    Heres the details:
    Sky Vega
    Android Version: 2.2.1
    Model #: IM-A710K

Anyways thanks in advance for any assitance anyone can give ::cool:

    Welcome to Android Forums!

If you want to force an Android phone to check for updates you can open the dialer and enter *#*#2432546#*#*

This may or may not make the pop-up reappear but it will put her phone back in the queue for the update. OTA updates don't generally just sit there. If you pass up the chance or it fails, you have to wait until it rolls around again, which may be a week or two. Of course, I have no experience with the Korean market, so it might not work at all.

Thanks for your help guys. I'll get her to try it when she gets home today. In the future where should sky vega questions go? :)

Aww so we tried entering that code in the dialer and nothing happened :(

Its very frustrating to have a phone with so little English documentation and such a small English userbase!

I don't know that nothing happened. You may be moved up for OTA updates and get the notice sooner. If the update was from Sky, you might look on the website for a file to download. If it was from the carrier, you'll just have to wait.
