Help HELP! 3G ok but GSM with data issues

Hi, I have a 1 month-old HTC LEGEND A6365 fully unlocked
(i think it was from Bell-Canada). I'm running it here in Chile.
The problem is with my GPRS/EDGE/GSM connection.
When I have 3G access, I have internet and voice/phone service as expected, but when I switch to GPRS/EDGE, I only have voice/phone service but no internet. Since I have phone service, I confirm that the network frequencies used here are enabled on my HTC Legend.
My carrier gave me the correct APN which i used on my Legend and my older blackberry. In my blackberry, when I connect to GPRS/EDGE i have both internet and phone service, so I don't think it is an issue of my carrier...
When I asked HTC for help they just told me "ask a third-party like androidforums.com" :S

So.. any clues?

You need to flash your phone with a new ROM. The one that comes with the Bell Legend has problems with GPRS/EDGE data.

make sure you allow set the phone network to auto... wcdma & gsm... if i just have mine set to gsm i have no internet. mine is a virgin mobile canadian phone... hopefully this will help!
