:thinking:I created a Ringtone from a MP3 File on my SD Card. It shows up as a ringtone in the list. I'm trying to delete the Ringtone, but I can't figure out how. I even deleted the MP3 off the SD Card, but the Ringtone still exists. Where is it stored and how can I delete it?

i think it is more of a cache issue. pop the sd card into your phone and restart your phone and see if it still shows.

    Caddyman,

You seem to be pretty knowledgeable. Any idea where PDF's are saved when you download one from the browser? I downloaded one and viewed it with PDF Viewer. There was no option to delete it. Any ideas?

I didn't think it was worth creating a new thread for this question.

    THanks!

They are on your SD card. Under "Downloads" I believe.

Can I delete without mounting or do I need to connect?

The only way I see it is to mount it. I can't delete my pdf file from my phone, But I know you can just go to the sd card on the computer and do it.

If you use a file manager, you can delete files on the SD card without connecting to a PC. Try Astro File Manager or Linda File Manager.

Thanks for your insight! I downloaded linda file manager. It was a much smaller file than astro. It does the job! I deleted the pdf from my sd card. Easy and painless!

    Thanks again everyone.

    Caddyman,

The Ringtones are still there! Where are custom Ringtones saved? Is there a way to delete them in the Settings menu? - Thanks

Yosef, I'm old so not sure that I'm remembering correctly, but I had the same problem about a month ago. I was able to remove it by installing Ringdroid and using that app to remove the ringtone.

 Isn't there a place in the Settings Menu to remove Custom Ringtones? I can't believe that there is no way to remove them except by installing a third party program. Anybody know how?

ok i did add the DROOOID mp3 notification tone to my phone a week ago.

it is annoying so i dont mind deleting it to try and answer this.

i mounted the SD on my PC and naviagted to

    SD:\media\audio\notifications

    deleted the droid.mp3

remounted the sd to the phone

then i went to handcent, menu, settings, notification settings, and the tone is no longer there.

i notice that i had a ringtone folder too but it wasnt in there in the first place.

maybe do a search for *.mp3 while mounted to your PC and see if it is hidden somewhere?

 Thanks Caddyman! I found the MP3s by searching *.mp3 on the SD Card. They were in the ".ringtonetrimmer" folder. Your'e the BEST!

    Caddyman,

Do you know what the Folder ".Mail" is on the SD Card. It looks like old remnants of e-mails. I have like 20 copies of an old e-mail that opens in MS Word. There are other files, but they don't open.

Any idea if I can delete these?

Not sure, maybe copy the files on your pc and paste somewhere else. Then delete them on sd card, remount, and check to see if you get errors...

Thanks Caddyman! - I copied them to my PC and deleted them off the SD Card. Everything seems to work fine. These must be cache files of some sort created when e-mails were opened and viewed. They may be cache created when opening and viewing attachments.

lol its *Caddyman* ...and it looks like this is going to be his thread here on out.....but what did you 'delete' causing your music to be 'unplayable?' If you didn't delete the .mp3 files themselves, nor uninstall the music player I'm not sure I am following you. You deleted a program?

Did you reformat your SD card or something? Did you check if the files (songs/pics) are even still on your SD card?
