Hi, I am the newbie here and I need some help. This is my first time using Android OS.
My wife's phone is Samsung i5801 Apollo which is using Eclair 2.1 can I upgrade to Gingerbread or I have to get Froyo first?
Her phone is unlocked and our carrier is AT&T we don't have no data plan other than using free WI-FI like, at home. Can some one help me answer this is possible to do?
    Thanks in advance.:)

IF your carrier is upgrading your phone to Gingerbread, then yes, it should work just fine. However I haven't seen any information about that phone getting an upgrade yet.

Since the phone ( unlocked ) is not from AT&T I won't be able to get any upgrade from them even if they do have upgrade. I am trying to do it myself, any suggestions?

xda-developers.com, check the subforum for that device. You will have to be rooted to run any updates not from your carrier.
