Help! cannot text anymore

Hi I just followed the manual instructions to force update to 2.2 and it went smoothly; now I cannot open Handcent SMS or the droid Messaging app they both freeze and force close.

What is wrong and how can I fix it?? Thanks

did you update to latest version of handcent? I had some issues, updated, no more issues.

and/or did you just try to reboot

I've rebooted twice and pulled the battery once so 3 reboots

But what about the original messaging app; that doesn't work either

hmm.... if you dont care about losing the texts you have - though hopefully you backed up with something like MyBackUp or Titanium - you could try

settings > applications > manage apps > handcent > clear data

or, uninstall handcent and reinstall

sorry, dont have a ton of ideas on this one. odd that stock app is having issues. did you search here to see if other report this on an existing thread?

some folks have been doing a master reset to fix problems ... you will lose your data tho if not backed up somehow

no wait I think it fixed itself..
I put the phone down while I tried to google this and all the sudden I got barraged by new email notifications text notifications and some other stuff.

Maybe it had to load all the stuff again and was taking a while? The phone is quite hot right now too

thats Great !!! ... and yes it does take awhile to re-sync everything
