I've had the DroidX a couple of weeks. This morning it stopped ringing on incoming phone calls. It does vibrate. Last time it rang is when I was playing with settings to have it stop ringing when I place if face down.

    I've undone that facedown setting.
Ringer is ON. I've cycled it on/vibrate/off and back ON.
    Silent Mode is OFF
    Phone Vibrate is OFF
Audible touch tones is ON and I hear tones on phone keypad
    Volume is Audible.
I can select and listen to my ringer tune.

    Any suggestions?

The face down setting is what did you in.

Motorola knows about this bug, and they are supposedly working on a fix for the next update. Until then, the only way to get the ringer back is to reset the phone to factory default.

Aargh! That means I lose all my home screens and application settings? How about my downloads?

Also, How do I go back to factory default?

Don't know if this other issue is fixed yet, but before you do a reset:

I guess in worst case scenario, you can always take it into a verizon store and have them replace the phone. They can probably transfer your files for you there too.

I get to be an ass for one second.
By looking just at the title, maybe it's because no one likes you anymore. :D

Just tried that. Couldn't get it to vibrate when flat on its back. Any suggestions for settings I might try for this fix?

Also, can you point me to the link in the Motorola forums?

No, No, it's because I'm getting lots of calls that I know the ringer doesn't work:)

Raduray, did you ever find a fix? I am having the same issue all of a sudden! Tried a battery pull, the flat phone thing, toggle off/on of ringer and vibrate settings... but nothing worked. I do NOT want to do a reset!

I loved the IDEA of the face down smart profile, but having used it ONCE and losing two days of customization on my new phone just to make it ring again, it was not the best way to start my iPhone to Droid X migration.

I've just updated to 2.2, but don't want to risk having to wipe my phone again for the face down feature.

Can anyone share actual experience with 2.2 and the Smart Profile Face Down feature on the Droid X ...

specifically have you silenced a ring by doing the face down maneuver, and then actually heard your phone ring to indicate an incoming call after that ?
