Help dropped in water now simcard won't read

Dropped phone in water and touchscreen failed so we replaced it and sim card does not respond, normally when the tray is removed the phone restarts however it won't react to its removal or installation at all.
I have reset phone and its still the same, its a huawei p9 3 weeks old
Any ideas??
