    European firmware works fine on Indian phones.Not that we get Indian languages installed or something. Check samsung firmware for all the official ROMS.:D

    The asian firmwares are chinese.Indian firmwares have DD on them.I use European firmware,I haven't encountered any problems.KIES is USELESS.It will take atleast 3 months for the official Indian Gingerbread Update.
    If your phone gets 'damaged' ,flash it with an european one.No hassles.
    Go to a nearby Samsung Care center with a pen drive ,they will give you the firmware .Either way go to the center after the 2.3 update is announced .They will update you freely.:)(This method soley is on how are your relations with the customer care guy.)

    You need Odin to flash in download mode.(Middle+Power+Volume down at reboot).No need of rooting.You wont be able to update from KIES any longer,thats the only hitch.Any way updating through Odin is better than KIES.

    ROM is where the firmware is.
    LIke if ROM = OS (Windows or Linux)
    firmware = version(7,XP or Ubuntu/Suse)

    You can install the apk.But you cant make flash work.Ace has V6 proc with VFP and Flash requires V7 processor.:(.Skyfire browser or Flashlite are the only options remaining if flash is necessary.
    You can unroot after rooting but why would anyone want to do that :thinking:
