I was running rubix and decided I wanted to try apex. I downloaded the zip file and tried to install it via rom manager.

Well I guess I should have done something different? because the phone got stuck in a boot loop with the apex android boot animation.

I followed the instructions on how to unbrick the phone by booting it recovery mode, and via usb and rsd lite, loading the .sbf. but after it reached 100% it said it had failed and I was still stuck in a boot loop.

What did I do wrong? Is it the fact that I had rubix and there is no sbf? I would imagine it wouldn't matter since it crashed installing apex.

I don't know what I am talking about, any help appreciated.

Did you follow the install instructions for ApeX? Did you create a nandroid prior to installing ApeX with Bootstrap Recovery?

You may want to wipe data and cache, and then start again fresh with installing ApeX.

If I'm wrong here, someone please correct me.

EDIT: Did you attempt a factory restore at any point in time before or after you did the sbf?

I have a backup from when I loaded rubix. I didn't want to create another. Also I think I messed up by not doing a bootstrap before.

I used to have an incredible and never had to worry about this

rsd lite failed again. I am SOL until new sbf comes out?

so which sbf should I be using? I've been trying with the sbf I found in

the all-In-One-Guide to Rooting, Deodexing, and Installing a Custom ROM/Theme (And How to Unbrick DX)

    (THE GIFT)

this might not be the correct one?

3rd- stuck at 99 saying loading ram downloader for bootloader. and then failed flashing. Lets see what happenes with restart

Wait I thought the_gift2 is what you need. Are you running 2.2? thought the_gift was for 2.1? You running rsd 4.8? Is your phone reconized in rsd if it is I would think the drivers are good if reconized.

If he accepted the 2.2 OTA then that is what he is supposed to be using, not the gift.

If you're making it as far as the boot animation (whether it be the android logo for ApeX, or the Droid eye for stock 2.2) it means that your /system partition is intact.

Please try booting into recovery mode and doing a factory reset. That'll wipe your data and cache, which is what is most likely causing the bootloops.
