Hey guys, I really need some help, I recently purchased a rooted eris off of the bay because My incredible was stolen. I have been impressed with the phone so far, but starting today (have had it about 2 months) I would unlock the phone, and it shows me the home screen for about half a second, then say "sorry! the process com.htc.bgp has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

Then it takes me to a picture of Htc in words, then it tries again, in a giant loop.

You didn't say what custom rooted ROM you are running or if its overclocked or not (my initial thought was that your phone might be overclocked and not really able to sustain the speed that its currently set at).

I'm not exactly sure that would be the cause or if the symptoms you reported mesh with the error message you reported (a quick Google search of your error message reveals a plethora of links about Facebook sync being the issue: The process com.htc.bg has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again...wtf - Android Forums).

Google is your friend ;). Hope that helps.

I've got an idea, try wiping the phone with the Verizon RUU software. It will wipe your phone back to factory settings, but it will hopefully get it working.

All you need to do is download that and follow the instructions.

That shouldn't be necessary. If you cannot get to the settings screen, your best bet would be to restart in Recovery and do a wipe data/factory reset and start from scratch.

From what I recall, most of those bg.etc. errors are due to Facebook syncing maybe? So you may want to skip that moving forward, if you do need to factory reset.
