Here is the XDA forum. [kernel] [odin3] Overclock to 1.2 GHz! - xda-developers I don't think they have a user friendly overclock for the Captivate yet, just the i9000.
If you're new to flashing ROMs, might I suggest Cognition. [ROM]Cognition v2.1.1 | Voodoo, HSUPA, GPS BETTER, 3 BUTTON FIX, MTU 1492 - xda-developers. It includes the Voodoo lag fix and is pretty fast. It was my first custom ROM flash and is working as advertised. You'll want Titanium Backup and ROM Manager from the market for this one.
