I got a phone for my wife from a friend. He installed Paranoid Rom. My wife tried to do some update to the rom, and it got weird. We don't know anything about these things... At all. The screen says Team Win Recovery Project v2.6.3.0 and a lot of big buttons. I'm hoping I can save some photos from our trip and just restore the phone to normal without any roms.

The phone just booted into recovery mode, just click the reboot button & it should boot up normally.

After I click reboot, it says System-Recovery- Bootloader and Power off. Do I click recover?

That sounds like the bootloader. Try selecting "System" and booting it by pressing the Power button.

System took me back to Black screen saying Google, then back to the main menu where all the options are again. From install all the way to Reboot.

Oh boy, sounds like the system got wiped then.

From the bootloader menu, select the Recovery option to get back into Team Win. The hit Install and see if you can browse for the ROM file. It will likely either be on the root of the "sdcard", in the Downloads folder, or the paranoidota folder, and should be named something like "pa_mako-4.0-XXXX.zip". If you find that, select it, and then swipe-to-flash. *Hopefully* that will get you up and running without any data loss - just make sure that you don't pick any option that includes the word "wipe". Good luck!

What's the fullname of that .zip? Just trying to figure out if its the latest.

I wouldn't bother with the signature verification. That would calculate a hash of the value to compare against a known good, but I doubt that you've got the required .md5 file to make it work. Beside, your system already doesn't boot - what's the worst that could happen ;)

No, but seriously, don't bother with signature verification and flash that sucker. Cross your fingers too.

That's an older one, but it should be fine to get you up and running. It's a lot easier to get the updated files you might need when the device is actually online.

I've got my fingers crossed for you!

Well shucks. You can try to connect the phone to your computer via USB while booted into that Team Win recovery screen. Depending on drivers and the alignment of the stars, you *may* be able to access the phone as a media device and copy over your pictures.

Otherwise, flashing the factory images is pretty much guaranteed to get you up and running, but you may lose data along the way. To do this, there's an easy way and a right way. I recommend the latter, but the toolkit route will probably be quicker.

Is there a way to just reset the whole phone without that Rom thing? or is the phone just dead?

Right now, the OS that's loaded on the device is broken, and it appears that the only way out on the device (that pa_mako.zip) is also corrupted. I'm afraid the only real option to get things up and running (and to guarantee that you don't run into similar issues in the future) is to flash the factory image.
