New to forums so please go easy on me: I trust I'm following the correct procedures?

Hi I am thinking about Rooting the Samsung Galaxy s2 4.0.3. XWLP7 I have read much and watched a few YouTube's on the subject. I find some of the information conflicting and it has put me off a little.

TO ROOT OR NOT TO ROOT? - that is the question !!

So can you guys help me - PLEASE !! ?

    1) Where can I find the simplest and easy to follow rooting instructions for a Samsung Galaxy s2 4.0.3 XWLP7 ?

    Yours Roy

So what's the procedure for a Samsung Galaxy s2 4.0.3 ICS XWLP7? And once Rooted does you have to keep flapping about with phone and could Samsung block my efforts?
Yours fellow Cambridge citizen. MANY THANKS !!

Many thanks for your prompt response. Will go to the suggested site very shortly. I really do appreciate you taking the time to assist.

Could I pose another question. I have got the impression that rooting might be a good idea hence my interest. My question is must i find my phones XWLP7 BUILD NUMBER ? Or can it be done via any old root number. ?
    Yours Roy

You will need to root using the xwlp7 cfroot kernel which matches your build number. The guide I linked you to is pretty clear and concise so just take your time and ask if unsure on any of the steps and I'm sure you'll be fine.

Appreciate your time Shotgun but wondered if you could (seen as i am a new Forum user) help me a little further.
I'm a little nervous about rooting. I am trying to be methodical but it's not easy.

    1) I am struggling to get my SSGS i9100 4.0.3 ICS Kernal XWLP7. Have tried the site but cannot see it. Can you direct me directly to the said kernel XWLP7?

    2) Will Rooting make my phoning experience easier or will I have to keep messing about.

If you're THE Roy Jones then we will all be going easy on you! :)

    Cf-Root LP7

And no, rooting will not make your phone any different whatsoever. All this gives you is the ability to open up all your device to new apps, roms, kernels etc. Its THESE that will make the difference!

Ironass explains in his guide on things to do once rooted.
