    Hi all,

I have a stock Droid with FRG83D and it has never been rooted.

Can anyone confirm if they have successfully (and smoothly) rooted with either of the below solutions:

    These are the latest versions...
    • SuperOnceClick v1.6.5
    [APP]SuperOneClick v1.6.5 (Root, Unroot, Enable Non-Market App, Get UNLOCK code) - xda-developers
    • Soup or Root 2.06 Beta

Or if you rooted FRG83D using something else other than these 2 please let me know what you used and how you did it.

    Thanks in advance!

We may need an expert to step in here, since I'm only a "done it once" noob.

But yes, my phone functioned exactly the same once I was rooted as it did before. Except that I could now download and run "root" programs.

@ nazz: your step two does require that you install a custom recovery image to your phone that will include the ability to make nandroid backups and restore them. The easiest way to do so, as you may have already read from (G)'s link is to install rom manager (free) from the market. Then use it to flash clockworkmod recovery to your phone. You may then use rom manager to make a backup of your current state.

    good luck
