Help! S3 won't boot. Can thus still be fixed?

Hi. My Samsung Galaxy S3 won't boot. When i turn my phone on it just gives me a white static-y white screen. It still can go on recovery mode when you press the volume down + home button + power button all at the same time. I tried to update the firmware through kies via desktop but it didn't work. Someone out there who knows if this can still be fixed? What should i do? Thanks!

I think it can be fixed have you factory reset in recovery yet?

Nope. How do i do that in recovery mode?

If you want to update anyways just boot into download mode and flash the latest tar for your version of the phone via odin.
