im trying to unroot my evo with unrooting for dummies and when booting pc36img.zip i get "No Image" and "No Image or Wrong Image" and it says update failed help
welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok so there are two steps to unroot: 1.flash the s-on tool. do you have s-on? 2.install stock recovery and stock rom via PC36IMG file. here is the tricky part as you have to name it correctly for hboot to recognize it. it needs to be named PC36IMG. do not add a ".zip" to the name if you are using windows as windows hides extensions. and you have to be in hboot(bootloader). power off then press and hold power+vol down and select yes to update. if you do those steps correctly, you should be unrooted. out of curiosity why are you unrooting? if it is for the ota, you can just flash a stock rooted ota.
Thanks!!! but i can't seem to remove the ".zip" from the file because i don't see it when i look at it. USing a windows 7 computer
trying to unroot me evo and i was told to remove ".zip" from the PC36IMG file but when i look its not there. after i try the power button and down volume key its reads the file and it has ".zip" please help!!!
you do not have to remove anything, just do not add an extra ".zip" to the name. so just rename it to PC36IMG with no ".zip" and place on the root of your card and you are good to go. oh and yeah and welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what is your hboot? and which PC36IMG file did you use? it needs to be the one that matches your hboot.
Thank You So Much its working now you are a life saver...when my replace ment arrives ill count on u to help me root again
no worries, glad it worked. just hope that it does not come updated already. if it does then you will have to wait. also let the sprint tech know that you do not wanted it updated.
