Help with contacts...being moved to call history

Merry Christmas to all who read this. I have had my hero for about 2.5 weeks and have learned alot from this forum, but i have a problem. The Hero moves contacts from the contact list to the history list. I don't like having to search through the history to find a contact. I want to go directly to it in the list. Is there a way around this other than clearing history all the time. Please help...
