Help Help with Skype

I tried using Skype with the Bionic last night and I can't get the front camera to work. It will show a black box where it should have my cameras view. I turned on video call in the settings. Anyone know if this is fixable or?
Thanks

Same problem here. Can't get video calls to work at all. It doesn't seem to be recognizing the camera or something. Audio works ok, but no video.

Same issue with the black box. I am assuming that Skype needs to update their app so it works with the Bionic. I've sent them an e-mail already.

I also noticed that after a Video Call, when you go to make a regular phone call the speaker stays on.

I downloaded Fring last night on my phone and my wife's Incredible 2. Quality is just o.k., but fun app none the less. I "Fringed" her again today at lunch....

I had issues with google Talk video as well. If I tried to call someone it didnt work at all. Worked iffy if someone else initiated the video chat.

GTalk probably also needs to be updated, then.

I tried to skype myself (logged in another another account on the computer) and it simply was not having it. Without video call it went fine - with it it craps out every time.

I'll test GTalk next.

Meantime, though, Netflix just released an update today in which they say "Netflix now supports all phones running Android 2.2 and 2.3." And, yes, it works.

Found this on another forum and just wanted to share. I haven't tried it yet so if anyone here does let us know if it works.

I got Skype to work with video on my Droid Bionic by doing the following:

1 Uninstall all Skype versions on your phone.

2 Install the modified version of Skype found here xda-developers - View Single Post - Skype 2.1.0.46 (v11) / fixes, extra features & more!

3 Sign in to Skype and on the main page hit the menu key (on your phone) then go to Advanced Settings.

4 Check-mark the option Use valid preview surface

5 Once back and on the Skype main screen hit the menu key (on your phone) and go in to Settings (Regular Settings this time) and check-mark Enable video calling

Enjoy your video calls on your phone.

I have tested this on mine and it works Phone to Phone or Phone to PC. Both cameras are working.

Credits go to theos0o from XDA developers and gazan1204 from droid forums

FWIW, the google talk that is already installed on the phone works quite well, both for mobile to mobile, and mobile to pc. I am not sure what other phones the google talk app is currently working with, but my wife and I used it last night for bionic to bionic, as well as setting up a new gmaill account for the home comp, and using mobile to pc. No problems and no issues at all. Just set up a new gmail account, installed the google video software, and it worked perfectly.

I've been using that hacked version of skype since day one and it works great, just click on the advanced settings tab and switch the two tick boxes on that say use when you only see black...

Works great :)
