Requesting Help!

I am new to Androids as such and had taken the big step towards it by purchasing an entry level Via WonderMedia 8650 few days back. The spec goes like this -

Build No- Eng2.2 Froyo Version 1.5.2-20110804.094257
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-Default
Android Version: 2.2
Model No: WonderMedia WM8650.

I would like to understand and do -

1. How to increase the performance of the device?
2. Am I looking at a Firmware Upgrade? If So, how to do it?
3. Upgrade the OS from Froyo to GingerBread.
4. Want to understand if i would be able to increase the sensitivity of the capacitive touch screen?

Request all assistance please !

I can't answer 2 & 3, but for question 1, you could root (grant yourself super user access)? Whilst won't improve performance straight away, it will allow you to install a custom ROM which generally perform better than the stock offering. I'm not entirely sure number 4 is possible (I could be wrong though).
