I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the issue. Let me get the story straight:

You rooted the phone, then updated with the 2.3 OTA update from VZW. Correct?

If so, is the problem that you DO or that you DO NOT have root?

Moving this to the root section where you'll get more help.

Taking the OTA will remove root.

Sorry to tell you this, but if you wanted root you should have updated to the rooted GB roms that have been here for several weeks. There's no current way of rooting the OTA version. You'll have to SBF back to froyo, then update that to the rooted roms.

I think what he is asking is how to get rid of superuser after he was rooted on froyo and accepted the ota. I know there is a way but I'm not familiar with it so I cannot help sorry. But others more experienced than me will come along and help you out with that.

The thing to do is not panic and ramble on with run on sentences like you did here. Think about what it is you wanna say and say it clearly so others know what it is your asking and they can help you better. I'm not being the grammer police here. We were just confused because we couldn't quite make out what you were asking.

The superuser icon should have been removed once he upgraded to gingerbread

If it didn't remove, a factory/data reset will do the trick. :) No biggie.

The update is a patch and won't remove it. I just verified that it stays there after taking the OTA.

I also tested this and it doesn't work. Since SuperUser is a system app it is untouched in a data/cache wipe.

Only way to remove it is have root access and then remove it from /system/apps with a root file explorer.
