Ok my Android Galaxy S has been acting weird. So I thought it needed an update, but everytime I check for a software update there isn't one. Also under About Phone there isn't anything about an update there either like in some of the videos I have watched. This is really bugging me. So please help!!!:afraid::afraid:

Well it's been really slow, and when someone is calling it doesn't ring and the text message sounds don't work. Sometimes the keyboard won't type. And when I go to youtube or some video with sound the sound does not work. And I don't remember updating it since I've had it.

Sounds like you just have to clear the cache and just reset it (don't do a factory reset) and it will probably speed up and function normally again.

    Hi pacacraw...

Welcome aboard. Don't worry yourself too much. We will try to help you as best as possible.

First thing I want you to do is to turn the device off and remove the battery, wait about a minute or two then reinsert the battery. Second, check inside settings - sounds or notifications. Make sure that all sounds, volume, media sound and everything else that should be "checked or enabled" are turned on.

If none of the above works, then you might wanna "reset" the device to factory settings. This method usually fixes most problems. I've also moved your thread to its area of support for some responses from other members with the same device.

    Good luck. :)

To perform a factory reset, you have to go to settings> SD card & Storage> and you should see the option when you scroll down. Did you try clearing the cache first?

Go to settings> manage applications> and just go trough apps like your web browser, messages, youtube, facebook, etc. Clear all your old messages and clear your history on your web browser and then reset your phone and it should be snappy and not laggy.
