i was playing nfs shift on my droid x and the screen turned black and this is what is says

battery low
cannot program

Sounds like you may have discharged your battery beyond a point where it can boot. I would power it off and try charging it up for a bit (until at least 5%) or if you have an external charger use that. Moto devices don't play nice when they get below 5% battery.

You could also check in with other DX owners here (Motorola Droid X - Android Forums) to see if they have any other ideas.
