    Guys and gals,

I am currently in afghanistan and cannot connect to a 3G network due to my location. However I have full internet access and was wondering is there any way to update you android market apps by plugging your phone into your laptop and accessing the internet? I know you can tether your pc to your phone and use the phone as a dongle effectively but can you do the other way round?

    Many thanks,

    South

You can do that on any WiFi network. How do you have access to internet on your Pc/Laptop ? Is it via a LAN cable ? If so, add a WiFi router/Access point.

Probably your WiFi is configured to one of the following modes

    1) DHCP is disabled and devices (like computers, laptops) connect using static IPs
    2) WiFi is restricted to accept only the allowed MAC addresses.
    3) Check if your Galaxy is configured to use auto IP or a static IP ? Change it to other setting and see if it works

What you are asking is kinda reverse tethering i.e. Phone gets internet from PC. I am personally not aware of any technique to this.
