Hero arriving tomorrow

Just ordered a sim free hero which is going to arrive tomorrow from Amazon which I'll be using with an UK O2 sim (with unlimited web bolt on). I'm really looking forward to trying it and android out

As many people on here are using phones under contracts is there anything special I need to be aware of with a contract free 'native' hero (will I need to do an OS upgrade etc?)

Any tips gratefully received - can't wait to get my hands on it

Wow, second new member / hero owner today! Nice to see the phone is still popular, and welcome to the forums.

To check if you need a software update, goto Settings > About Phone > Build Number. If it doesn't start 2.73, you'll need an update (which can be gotten from the UK HTC site).

You may have to setup your internet and MMS settings manually, it may auto dectect. If you have trouble, just google for O2 APN settings and you should find what you need

No, the o2 data bolt-on isn't capped. It is subject to 'fair use' (as they all are) but I think you've got to really hammer it to get noticed.

What a great phone! I'm still finding my way around it but I'm very impressed so far.
