Hero turning itself off

Hi,

Got myself a white sim free hero which I've had for just about a month now running with a Virgin Mobile sim. The phone has been updated to the latest ROM version from HTC.

I've noticed on a couple of occassions that it has turned itself off even though it's got a good battery charge. Of course you don't know this has happend until you go to use the phone!

You can't switch the phone back on without having to take the battery out and putting it back in either.

Anyone got any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks

Mine has done this on 2 isolated occasions since I got it last August - I think it must be a software glitch - I don't think it is related to faulty hardware or battery as others have also reported it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Amazon are now going to replace this with a new one, I'll see how I get on with this one.

I've had the phone just over 2 weeks and had this 3 times. There is a another thread about this which I posted to as well. Seems to be one of those things that happen now and again...don't know why..

I'm on T-Mobile and have the G2 version!

I can live with minor problems on phones but I find this one quite annoying. Unless you're one of those people that is constantly checking your phone you're not going to know this has happend and the fact that you have to remove the battery to get it started again is crazy.

Mine also does the same thing (hero on orange), I think it could be a firmware issue as it didnt start to happen until the new firmware was installed. Hopefully it will be sorted out with the next firmware release

I think mine has done this once.

Having said that I don't think I've ever had a phone which didn't. Remeber late 90's Nokias? They were never on when you came back to them...

Only ever had one Nokia which was replaced by the Hero. Had plenty of other brands of phones however and I've never ever experienced this before and if I did I'd be after a replacement.

I'm sorry but in my mind no phone sat on a desk should turn itself off unless the battery is dead or the phone has a power saving setting.
