Hero will not connect to Android Market to download apps.

When I click on my Android Market icon under programs My HTC Hero will not connect to Android Market it says to set up my Google Account. So I try to sign in on my Google Account and after a min or two it then says, You don't have a network connection. This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services.
Does anyone know what the problem is???

Have you been able to connect to the Market with this handset previously? If so then the problem is most likely a temporary one with the Market itself.

If not, and you are using an older SIM card, then contact your mobile network to check that it's compatible with their data services.
