Hi, i'm new and I mainly joined the forums to try to learn info on rooting and using custom ROMS. I haven't been able to find the answer to my question yet, but hopefully you guys can help me. I have a MOTO Droid running FroYo (the FRG01B build) and rooted it using Easy Root. The main reason I rooted was to overclock, but as I understand it you need to be running a custom kernel to get any significant speed boost. I use SetCPU and it runs at its highest at 800MHz, but the question I have is do I have to be running a custom ROM to use those OC'ed kernels or can I install one on my stock FroYo build? Please excuse my noobness.

Yes you can install froyo kernels over the Rom your running, but if you have any more questions, there is a root section in the MOTO Droid sub forum. But anyways, Welcome to the Android Forums!
