4.0.3 will be the "base" version of ICS.

Does this mean that we will be able to properly sync our Facebook contacts? Would be nice. I'm really gonna miss the auto-updating of contact pictures from FB.

You should still get the OTA, however, i'm not sure if it will break root or not. I am unlocked/rooted as well and will be staying on 4.0.2 until i get a definitive answer on that, or until a deodexed 4.0.3 build comes out (shouldn't be more than a couple days).

4.0.1 -> 4.0.2 broke root. FWIW.

Updates almost always break root. It's perfectly normal. With an unlocked bootloader, there is literally nothing they can do to prevent regaining root.

The statement about "in the coming weeks" was in reference to 4.0.3 being called "base ICS", the version that will be given to Motorola and HTC and the others to adapt to their respective UI skins, which will take a few months. I suspect us Nexus users will see 4.0.3 within a few days.

I was told that there will be an update coming in a week or so and 4.1 has been in testing. Maybe they are going to take some baby steps.

I'm pushing the source code for Android 4.0.3 to AOSP. This matches
build IML74K. Kernel sources will follow as soon as practical.
Over the years, I've released 50 different versions of Android in
AOSP, not counting the SDK and CTS, and I think that this is the best
release ever.

In settings, accounts, add account, and chose Facebook.

No worky. It's been disabled in the Nexus line because of a few issues between FB and Google.
