My Alltel service has sold me to ATT. They sent me the HTC Aria to replace my BB. My IT guys at work all recommended that I switch to the Android platform.

I was told that the switch from CDMA to GSM would probably not be complete until April.

I'd like to start using my phone now, in some capacity. If I could load it with a few apps and use it for WiFi that would be great. So far, I cannot register on Android Market becaue I have no "phone" and although I was able to connect with my Wifi I cannot open the web.

If I pull the SIM card, can I use it for some of these other things?

It would be nice to be able to get to know my new device, since I have a couple of months before it goes live on phone network.

If you can offer any suggestions, I would appreciate it!

    Welcome to the Android Forums!

If you can't connect to the Internet via WiFi then their might be another issue at play. With WiFi enabled and connected, you should be able to setup a Gmail account on your phone. Once done you should be able to access the Android Market...
