iReader and CoolReader (in market) are able to read .mobi format.

The Kindle app imports .mobi too, but you have to open a Kindle account.

If you installed the Kindle app there should be a folder 'kindle', when not, create it on the root of SD card (your hard drive). In this folder put the .mobi's and then they should apear in the Kindle app's book shelf :)

EDIT: I see, now they are PDF's ?

For PDF's install 'Mantano Reader' :)
The Kindle app can't read PDF.

I used the Linux version of Calibre app, to place a PDF converted to mobi into the Android/data/com.amazon.kindle/files folder of my HTC Desire, with a cover .jpg in the covers folder there too.
The conversion isnt great but its ok, after the Contents Pages, which have loads of unprintable characters.
When I put the mobi files anywhere else the Kindle App just didnt see them.
This location is the place the online Amazon EBook Store sends EBooks bought online.
I only got 10 or so free books from the Amazon site, and wanted to read converted PDF too, this worked for me and may help others too.

With the Kindle app's last update it also can read PDF's.

Putting books in the folder 'kindle' on the SD card works for me :)
