hi so im ben (as my username suggests :p) and i've been quite intrigued by the android os so im currently deciding on what android phone to get, currently on my list are the i9000 and the g2 (also u can recommend me a droid phone too you find is quite worthy) so im interested in the i9000 cause of the amazing display, a bit cheaper, cool samsung apps, body factor being light and thin and stylish, and because of the hummingbird gpu, but im put off cause of flash, the samsung skin is alright (if theirs a way to use vanilla, please tell me how to :p) the slow firmware updates and the bak is a bit plan but i wont be rly seeing that :D im attracted to the g2 cause it feels premieum luxury vip, the hinge is alright, the track thingy is cool, has flash and its htc meaning cool software and stuff :D so u guys decide (with proof) wut do u believe is teh better phone :D thanks~

Get the G2. It feels more of a true Google experience than the Galaxy S. Well it is a True Google Experience, more than any other phone except another with the raw Android. There are other reasons while I prefer the G2 but I think you already know why. One other thing, updates is a less of a pain on the HTC phones since they are pushed directly off the air.

And yes, while I think the Galaxy S display is better. you won't miss it.

But if you're the hacker type and planning to Root and ROM, you might be better off with the Galaxy S.

If you want to use a vanilla UI on the Galaxy S, download Launcher Pro from the Market. Its not exact but its a near vanilla experience. Launcher Pro isn't pure Eclair or Froyo, but the way it looks its a hybrid between both.

Yes i do. Also because I got one too.

The front cam is for 3G SIP based video calling. Means you can video call others with the same feature, like many international Nokias and other Samsungs including the Galaxy S and beyond that.

The screen display. The great screen response and animation smoothness of the UI, it beats the older iPhones and matches the iPhone 4. Relatively healthy battery life.

But the phone also has lag and momentarily blackout issues due to quirky file system, as it uses Samsung's own secure file system. It can be frustrating at times. Also, you need Samsung Kies to update the phone with the official update, whereas the HTC would just push the updates directly to your phone and you simply affirm the upgrade confirmation button on the phone screen.

There are things i like about Touchwiz, like having the best lockscreen and notification bar in any Android, and the unique Edit Homescreen option. On the other hand, HTC Sense generally looks slicker, and I like the way it can save your customized screens.

Its long story, I own HTC phones and the Galaxy S. I feel that I would prefer to recommend HTC for now, especially given their mastery of Android and a quicker upgrade schedule. I feel that Samsung screws into Android more than it should. But hey, if you really like the Galaxy S, go for it.

I like to see how the Android 2.2 Froyo update on the Galaxy S turns out and see if it did fix the Galaxy S.

Yes, it just uses the cable. I tested the original one and my other pair of earphones (no mic/buttons, just a cord and earphones) and they worked almost just as good.

Or, for better reception, do what I did!

Find a junk pair of earbuds or something (ones you get for free, preferably) and rip the earbuds off, then add on extra wire (copper) for better reception. Drawback: gotta run it through the speaker, but oh well.
