It's a HTC Evo V 4G. I have found root instructions in several places, but I am looking for the stock Odex/Deodex files and the links in a thread http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/560846-rom-evo-v-4g-stock-rom-deodex-odex.html on here to those appears to not be valid. So I am trying to track them down. Help is always appreciated.

Actually, if anyone can direct me to anything cool to do with it, that would be nice. Main things I would like to change is apps (don't want much of the stock apps and my onboard storage is low because of those) and I would like the battery to last as long as possible. Totally new to anything to do with smartphones.

Thanks Digi, but not really looking for apps (at least not right now), but to get rid of a bunch that I don't need. Bloatware is a pain. I will check through the forums for info.

I have not followed that forum or the thread I posted, however, my suggestion to you would be to feel free to start a thread in that forum and lay out what it is exactly you have in mind. There is a good chance the fine folk in there will be able to get you where you are wanting to go!
