Is there a way to hide some of my contacts from appearing in general lists, and when I start typing a name to call or text. I want these contacts in my phone so that if one of them would call me, their name would pop up, and if I ever need one of them, once in a blue moon, I should be able to access them. But I don't want them to appear in my day to day use of my htc evo shift. These are old contacts and they crowd up my contact list unnecessarily. Any way to do that???

the only way that i know of is to group your old contacts together and create other groups like friends and work. and all you have to do is toggle between the groups if you need to search for a number. i do not think that there is an app or option to just exclude a certain number from the list other then deleting it.

there are several apps that will get you close to what you request.

    search "contacts" in the market.

go contacts looked pretty good but there are many out there.
