I had my Hero plugged into my car stereo via the headphone jack playing some tunage, and all of the sudden it started playing this high-pitched squeal noise while playing the music. I unplugged the cable, and then plugged it back in, and it went away... for a while. It came back later, so I tried my "fix" again. It seemed to work, but not for as long.

I'm rooted running CM6.1. Has anyone had this problem before? It also happened on my home stereo with Pandora, but I couldn't get it to go away by unplugging and plugging back in.

    Thanks.

This should probably be posted in the rooted section. There you will get folks familiar with custom roms, and CM6 in particular, who should be able to help you better. So, I've moved it there for ya! :) Let's see if we can find a solution!

Maybe the headphone jack was really cold when you plugged it and your Sprint HTC Hero screamed from the shock? Haha. :D

In all seriousness, maybe try a different headphone cord. There could be interference from the radio too. :)

    Nope,,,,just dirty -
There is anti corrisive/cleaner available at most music stores. Spray the cable rubit good with your fingers...then plug it in an out a few times.

Excellent, thanks a lot. I'll give it a go. Would just plain rubbing alcohol do the trick?

I get a high pitched sound whenever I plug in the car charger and listen to AM radio.

Hence the radio interference I mentioned in my previous post. You can probably get a shielded cable that would eliminate this problem for the most part.

Sometimes cables have a very thin shielding and radio interference becomes a major problem. Radio Shack or any multitude of online vendors will probably have a nice shielded cable that will remedy the issue.
